work with children, teenagers and young people (and adults) of all ages and
abilities, including children and adults with learning disabilities. To make
things easy, these arts activities are delivered at your venue. Artists arrive
20 minutes early to provide workshops at your centre or venue across England
and Wales. These indoor youth activities are available morning, afternoon and night,
seven days a week and throughout the year including bank holidays.
activities are booked by numerous organisations including NCS (National
Citizenship Service. They require arts related team building and community
activities. NCS organisations also require workshops that promote British
Values such as inclusion. They find that our workshops provide a valuable tool
to learn and incorporate the aforementioned skills and values, but in a fun and
a look at some recent NCS feedback from our African drumming workshops for
teambuilding and rapping and beat-boxing utilised to promote NCS values.
Two examples of recent NCS feedback
“We had an African Drumming
Workshop for our NCS programme with 16 and 17 year olds. All the young people
enjoyed this alternative form of education. The instructor was very energetic
and enthusiastic despite the 30oC heat. We will definitely consider using YWA
again in the future.”
Feedback from a Burton Albion Community Trust
NCS project worker: July 2016
Our young people had a fantastic experience with
the YWA artists. We booked out the rapping / beat-boxing session for our NCS
participants to challenge them and put them out of their comfort zone by
performing in front of the group. The artists did a great job of encouraging
participation as well as giving them the chance to write their own lyrics. This
allowed us to ask our young to reflect on themselves and their experiences and
perform it as a rap. The experience was very beneficial to the programme.
from a Sheffield Wednesday NCS youth worker: March 2016
Look at some of our other recent feedback
from a youth organisation and a school who booked our arts activities!
“Yeah it seemed to go really well, the YP
were really engaged throughout the session and seemed to enjoy all the
different aspects of the workshop. Our organisation (Young Cumbria) hired Nugent
Education to deliver 2 graffiti workshops for a group of young people aged
11-16yrs. The activities were well paced and the expertise of the staff really
helped encourage and inspire our group, the group really enjoyed every second
of the workshops.”
Feedback from a Cumbria Youth Worker: July 2016
“We had beat-boxing and rap
sessions, an hour per year group (Y1-Y6). The children loved the workshops and
really took to the leader, who was extremely good with the classes. He was
talented, engaging, firm, fun and a brilliant teacher. He was also amazing at beat-boxing,
and the children loved that!
Feedback from a Leicester teacher at
Newbold Primary School: July 2016
